The Centro Nacional de Análisis Genómico (CNAG) is one of the largest Genome Sequencing Centers in Europe.

 

The CNAG Consortium aims to carry out large-scale projects in DNA/RNA analysis for the improvement of quality of life in collaboration with the Spanish, European and International Research Community. CNAG researchers participate in major International Genome Initiatives such as the Human Cell Atlas (HCA), the International Cancer Genome Consortium (ICGC), the International Human Epigenome Consortium (IHEC), the International Rare Diseases Research Consortium (IRDiRC), the European Reference Genome Atlas (ERGA) and the European Infrastructure for life-science information (ELIXIR), as well as in several EU-funded projects.



The CNAG has more than 100 professionals, structured in different units such Bioinformatics, Sequencing, Single-cell, Research and Corporate Management.

 



The Role

 

We have an opening for a Front-end Software Engineer to play a key role in several cancer, rare diseases and immunology related projects, such as Instand-NGS4P (https://www.instandngs4p.eu/), 3TR (https://3tr-imi.eu/) and Solve-RD (https://solve-rd.eu/). Specifically, for Instand-NGS4P, the aim is to develop a standardised Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) workflow from NGS data analysis to medical-decision making for common and rare adult and paediatric cancer. The workflow will leverage, among other, the current RD-Connect Genome Phenome Analysis Platform (https://platform.rd-connect.eu/), with the objective to cover data management, clinical and genome data integration, genome analysis pipelines, variant annotation, interpretation, and reporting. For the 3TR project the aim is to integrate different type of omics data and be able to analyse and visualize those datasets. With the supervision of the Lead of the Data Platforms and Tools Development Team and in collaboration with cancer specialists, bioinformaticians and software engineers, the successful candidate will implement the UI features for the relevant projects.



The successful candidate will join the Data Platforms and Tools Development team, coordinated by Dr. Davide Piscia (https://www.cnag.crg.eu/teams/bioinformatics-unit/data-platforms-and-too...). The team is part of the CNAG Bioinformatics Unit (led by Dr. Sergi Beltran), which has over 30 members and offers continuous growth and support on a professional level.



The team works in a stimulating scientific environment, applying state-of-the-art technologies to breakthrough research projects in Genomics that have an impact on people’s health.

 



His/Her responsibilities include:

 

Design and implement the User Interface with a JS framework ( Reactjs, Vuejs,etc.)

Gather the UI and UX requirements with the data analyst specialists

Collaborate with back-end developers and web designers to improve usability

 



Whom would we like to hire?

Bachelor degree or Master degree in Computer science or related fields

A minimum experience of 2 year in a Software related position, preferentially as Front-end software engineer.

Proven experience in coding in JavaScript, Typescript, or other programming languages.

Experience with HTML and CSS.

Experience with source control system as git.

Ability to fast translate requirements to prototype and good eye for design.

Good organizational, prioritizing, communication and interpersonal skills.

Good spoken and written English.



Nice to have:

Experience with genomics and clinical data.

Experience with spa framework (React JS, Vue.js, Svelte, Angular, etc.)

Experience with CSS framework (Bootstrap, Material UI)

Experience implementing mobile application and/or porting web UI to mobile devices.

Experience with front-end testing (Selenium, Cypress)
